i'm not seeing a listing of stations by genre on the site, only by country? am I missing it?

No, you are not missing it. I am working on Genre based browsing.

when there's no genre information associated with the station it shows up as "unknown" on the audiotron, it might be helpful if the station name were copied into the genre field if it's left empty

That modification has been made, "unknown" is gone and the station name is displayed when there is no genre information.
