Topic: UK stations broken?

You can also try to play the stream in something like winamp..

Hi speedf,
basically the repair of an outdated station record is quite easy, provided you have editor rights.
If a station record is obsolete:
 - find a valid stream URL,
 - test it as 'private' via your MyFavorites on your radio device and
 - finally replace  the old string by the new one on our database.
Do you think that you would be able to do so?

Thanks Nobi!

I'd love to keep some of the UK stations up to date - can you advise how you go about doing it on this site?

Thanks again,

Fun Kids UK has been updated today.

Nobi

There was an automated process that would check the streams. However, there are some flaws in it and it was killing too many streams that actually worked.
So it has not been running for a while.

Our database is a community effort. With "our" I do not mean a company or group but simply you, me and the other users here.
I have made firmware fixes, created replacement firmware and registered abandoned domains that were once officially used to talk to the radio's.
All that just to keep them working.
I go over the links myself and so are a bunch of other devoted people.
Obviously with so many streams it is difficult to keep up with all the changes.
The idea is that everyone keeps an eye on the stations they like.
Even if you do not know how to find a new link to a stream, reporting about it might alert someone to take a closer look.
Some country lists are in a very good shape other coutry lists are falling behind. This is mainly due to where the radios were sold and the more active persons are.

Also, for the SkyTC radio's equipped with the listenlive firmware, our database is not th eonly one available. These have multiple databases they can use.
The radio's originating from Penbex are unfortunately having limitations. Among others they are too slow/old to run the newer audio codecs so that some stream types will not work that work fine on other devices.

Hi,

A lot of the UK streams seem to no longer work (for example Fun Kids).  Looking through the database on the website seems to show that they are "queued to be tested soon, but some streams were tested over 7 years ago.  Is there any way to update the database?

Thanks,
